Winter 2024/2025 Flu Vaccination – How and When to Book

We are now taking bookings for those patients who are eligible for their Winter 2024/2025 Flu Vaccination. The eligible patients and when they are eligible from are listed below:

From 1st September 2024:

- Pregnant women
- All children aged 2 or 3 years on the 31 August 2024
- Primary school aged children (From Reception to Year 6 - given at school)
- Secondary school aged children (From Year 7 to Year 11 - given at school)
- All children in a clinical risk group aged from 6 months to less than 18 years

From 3rd October 2024:

- Patients aged 65 years and over
- Patients aged 18 years to under 65 years in a clinical at risk group
- Patients in long-stay residential / nursing homes
- Carers in receipt of Carer's Allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
- Close contacts of immunosuppressed individuals (usually household contacts)
- All frontline health care workers, including both clinical and non-clinical staff

Below is a link to the gov.uk website that explains when patients should get their flu vaccine, which in some cases for patients is a later than in previous years.

The practice will sending out text messages and letters to eligible patients this week. If you receive a text message / letter, please use either the self-booking link on the text message, or contact the practice on 01204 463777 to book your appointment. For patients who are housebound. (ie, a patient who is unable to leave their house or be brought to the surgery by a friend or relative due to their medical condition), we will be providing a home visiting service. If this applies to you, please contact the practice on 01204 463777 and your name will be added to the home visiting list.

Our GP Partners strongly recommend that all eligible patients have their flu vaccine.
