Out of hours services

For out of hours urgent medical attention and advice, please telephone 0161 763 8940 or NHS 111.

When you call the service, you will initially speak to a specially trained call handler who will prioritise your symptoms. If the call is an emergency, the call handler can transfer you directly through to the ambulance service. In other cases, you will be advised regarding any necessary further action. This may include attending the GP Out of Hours Service at Waters Meeting Road, Bolton.

The Bolton GP Out of Hours Service is a community based service, which delivers urgent primary care. The service is currently based at Waters Meeting Health Centre and is operational from 6.30 pm to 8.00 am Monday to Friday, all weekend from 6.30 pm on Friday until 8.00 am Monday and bank holidays.

If you are more seriously ill, the GP or nurse at the Out of Hours Service, can send you to the local Accident and Emergency Department.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
