Would you like a quicker, safer, easier repeat prescription ordering service?

Dear Patient,

The way you order your repeat prescriptions is changing.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, in order to minimise footfall in to the practice, we started to accept repeat prescriptions by telephone.  However, as the pandemic has now been downgraded and to help ease the telephone queues, we have recently stopped accepting repeat prescriptions via the telephone.  This is so that patients who really need to get through to the surgery can do so.

We are aware that being able to order repeat prescriptions via the telephone is easy and we have been advising patients who still wish to order in this way to ring their regular local pharmacy who can order repeat prescriptions on a patient’s behalf.  However, this has caused a huge increase in the pharmacies workload.  We have been working with our local pharmacies in the area to determine how we can help minimise that workload.

In a joint venture, from the 1st June 2023, pharmacies will no longer be accepting your repeat prescription requests and instead, we ask that you use the NHS App, a simple and secure way to order your repeat prescriptions on your smartphone or tablet.  If you already use Patient Access, then you can continue to do so.

The NHS App gives you more control over your health and care.  You can use it wherever you are, at any time of the day or night.  It puts information about your health treatments at your fingertips.  This means you can see it when speaking to a healthcare professional.

For vulnerable patients, patients on palliative care and those without internet access, you can still order your repeat prescription by post or by coming in to our reception desk.  For this group of patients only, you can still order your repeat prescription with your local pharmacy.

This new way of ordering your repeat prescriptions means that your request will go straight to the GP.  The GP, in turn, can reply directly back to you with any issues.  This cuts down on administrative time and the processing of your repeat prescription order should be much quicker.

If you would like further information on the NHS App, or help and support downloading the app, please click here, or pick up a leaflet from our Reception Desk or your local pharmacy.

We thank you, in advance, for your co-operation in helping the practice improve this process for our patients and pharmacies.
